Nutrition

In the last 50 years, our food supply has changed more than it has in the last 10,000 years. We are having to deal with health issues we’ve never had to deal with before, and collectively we have become an over-fed, under-nourished society.

We all have different disease risks due to our different genes, but even more than genes what we inherit more often than not is lifestyle… or more specifically… diet. Scientists have proven that genetics simply gives us our predispositions and they don’t determine our fate. Disease rates have changed so drastically over the past few years that it’s unjustified to blame genetics alone. Our genetic code simply could not have changed that significantly, that fast. While we can’t control the genes we inherit, we can control the environment in which those genes exist in by optimizing our chances of expressing the right genes through lifestyle and nutrition.

I’m not here to promote or advocate one specific way of living. I have studied over 100 different philosophies and seen first hand how one way of eating can work wonderfully for one person and then not the next. The reason for this is because there is a certain degree of bio-individuality both in our genetic makeup but also our lifestyle, tastes & preferences. However, we are more similar than we are different and some principles are universal. For example, there is no amount of hydrogenated oils, food dye’s, artificial preservatives or genetically modified foods that anybody should eat in moderation. Everyone can benefit from eating more whole, plant based foods (which is why all of my recipes fit these guidelines) and some degree of physicality is important for every single person to stimulate cellular regeneration.

As your health coach, my roll is to help you find that perfect equation that works for you and then teach you the tools to make sustainable changes in your life. Disease is literally dis-ease in the body… the body is telling you something is off. If we give the body what it needs and take away that which it can’t process the body then has the opportunity to get itself well, by itself.”
